May 2007 Google PageRank Update?? Still Due In April.

April 17th, 2007 by Chris Pangburn

As our previous post notes, we are still predicting a Google PageRank Update in April 2007, however with it now being mid-April, and all Google datacentres are still reporting similar PR values, there’s no sign of an impending update. As with all things unpredicatably ‘Internet’ we may be proved wrong, however, and the update could be in May 2007 instead.

This isn’t necessarily bad news, as it gives webmasters the time to keep on building those quality inbound links and organising website structure so it is in tip-top form for the next Google Update. As mentioned in the previous post, newer pages were awarded a higher PageRank value than older pages so that’s something to look out for.

We are monitoring the datacentres daily, looking for any inconsistencies which would give evidence of an update in progress, and will post our findings as and when they develop.

When is the next algorithm update? Not PR, but actual rankings update.

      Hi there,

Unfortunately no-one except the top-bods at Google know exactly when the next rankings update will occur, however for competitive keyword phrases I have found that the rankings are re-shuffled between every 4 and 10 days. If you mean the next big algo update then this could happen at any time - for better or worse. I believe there was a significant update in February whereby smaller keyword-rich niche sites started to gain higher rankings, sometimes in favour of long-standing authority sites.
